Nixon Peabody LLP Names CEO and Managing Partner

LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – January 7, 2008 (New York, NY) – International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP has named Richard F. Langan, Jr., to serve as the firm’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner. Mr. Langan will become leader of the firm and assume the titles of CEO and Managing Partner effective May 1, 2008, at which time current CEO and Managing Partner Harry P. Trueheart, III, will become the non-executive Chairman of Nixon Peabody. While serving as CEO and Managing Partner, Mr. Langan will continue his legal practice in business and finance. He will be based in the firm’s New York City office.

Mr. Langan has spent his entire career at Nixon Peabody. He joined the firm in 1980 as a first-year associate. Most recently he served as Chair of Nixon Peabody’s Business and Financial Services Department, which includes the firm’s securities, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, finance, and related practices. Mr. Langan will remain committed to serving the firm’s securities and M&A clients while serving as CEO and Managing Partner.

During this transition period, Mr. Langan and Mr. Trueheart will work closely together on all firm matters. In Mr. Trueheart’s new role as non-executive chairman, he will focus on client relationships, firm strategy and special projects. Mr. Trueheart has served as the firm’s CEO and managing partner since 1994. Mr. Langan is a member of the American Bar Association (Negotiated Acquisitions Committee and the Federal Regulation of Securities Committee, Business Law Section) and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (Securities Regulation Committee and Financial Reporting Committee). He is a director of Minetta Brook, a non-for-profit arts foundation in New York City. Mr. Langan received his J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center and he earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Fordham College.
