Chapman Tripp is proud to announce that partner Michael Arthur has been appointed as a Judge of the High Court of New Zealand. While we are sad to be saying goodbye, we are delighted to see Michael’s expertise and dedication recognised with this prestigious appointment.
Michael has been a cornerstone of our commercial litigation and insolvency practice since joining the firm in 1997. His expertise in corporate restructuring, secured transactions, and insurance law has been recognised both within the firm and across the wider legal community.

He has left an enduring mark on Chapman Tripp, serving as a generous mentor to many and a respected colleague to all. We are immensely proud of his achievements and wish him every success as he embarks on this important role in the judiciary.”
We thank Michael for his contribution to the firm and wish him every success in his next adventure.
