Another Meredith Connell Exit As Jacob Barry Joins Boutique Litigation Bench

Jacob Barry is the latest senior litigator to depart Meredith Connell, adding further weight to the ongoing questions around the Crown Solicitor firm’s ability to retain top-tier talent, or whether the move signals a strategic slimming of the firm.

Now joining Lindsay Francis & Mangan’s Auckland office as a partner, Barry brings a well-established reputation as a trial advocate with strength in complex regulatory and commercial disputes. His move follows a stint as a partner at Meredith Connell wherehe spent over 10 years, including three as a partner heading the competition and consumer law practice and handled a mix of commercial and criminal matters across trial and appellate courts.

Meredith Connell has been overseeing a raft of departures in recent times, as we have reported.

Barry is widely regarded for his ability to steer clients through the increasingly demanding landscape of regulatory investigations and enforcement action—an area where experience, and judgment, are at a premium.

A Harvard Law School LLM graduate, he sits on the prosecution panels for both the Commerce Commission and the Serious Fraud Office, and serves as Deputy Chair of the Sport Integrity Commission’s Disciplinary Panel.

His arrival bolsters Lindsay Francis & Mangan’s growing disputes bench and underscores its ambitions to position itself as a genuinely independent, top-tier litigation offering in the Asia-Pacific market.
