Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP (“K&L”) is pleased to announce that Jeryl A. Bowers, a leading corporate and securities attorney, has joined K&L’s Los Angeles office as a partner. Mr. Bowers comes to K&L from his previous position as Vice President, Secretary & General Counsel to Medialive International Holdings, Inc.
Bowers concentrates his practice in securities, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate matters. He has negotiated agreements for private equity financings, joint venture agreements, employment agreements, technology agreements and distribution agreements. His corporate practice has included helping to craft a buyout agreement for PetsMart.com Inc., which allowed the shareholders and employees to receive significant value for their stock, as well as handling venture capital financing and M&A work for the company. Bowers assisted with the establishment of MediaLive International’s corporate governance structure and took on a wide variety of general legal issues, from licensing intellectual property to real estate transactions, to the management of litigation.
Bowers received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Howard University in 1990 and his Juris Doctor in 1993 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was managing editor of the law review. His appointments have included board membership with the American Corporate Counsel Association and associate board membership with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Bowers has also been named one of the “Best Corporate Attorneys Under 40” by the Corporate Board Member Magazine.
