Shearman & Sterling LLP recruits top M&A lawyer in Hong Kong

Move bolsters capabilities in China, Japan and throughout Asia

Hong Kong, August 4, 2008 – LawFuel – Law Firm Newswire – In a move that significantly bolsters its M&A capabilities in China and throughout Asia, global law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP announced that Gregory D. Puff has rejoined the firm in Hong Kong as a partner.

Mr. Puff, an associate at Shearman & Sterling from 1993 to 2002, most recently served as a partner and Head of M&A-Asia at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he was involved in a wide array of public and private mergers and hostile transactions, stock and asset purchases, and joint ventures. He regularly represents multinational corporations and global investment and commercial banking firms in their M&A transactions around the world, with particular focus on deals in China, Japan and throughout Asia.

At Shearman & Sterling, Mr. Puff will join an already highly regarded M&A team, led by Lee Edwards, China managing partner. Other Asia-based M&A partners include Paul Strecker in Hong Kong and Masahisa Ikeda and Kenneth Lebrun in Tokyo.

Among his clients, Mr. Puff has worked with Mindray Medical International, eMobile Ltd., and MSK Corporation. He also constructed Japan’s first shareholder-approved hostile takeover defense plan (poison pill) for eAccess, Limited.
