May 28, 2004 – LAWFUEL – Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP announced today that Nicolas Baverez will join the firm on June 1, 2004 as a partner in its Paris office, along with two associates. Baverez focuses his law practice on French public M&A.

Baverez focuses his practice on corporate transactions and public and administrative law. Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, he was the Partner In Charge of Public Law activity at Brandford-Griffith & Associés. He is a graduate of two of the three most prestigious higher education institutions in France: Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) and Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), as well as the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. He was previously a magistrate at the Cour des Comptes, the highest level of French governmental auditory bodies, and was a member of staff of the French Parliament. He was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1998. Nicolas Baverez is also an editorial writer for French current affairs magazine, Le Point, and France’s daily newspapers, Le Monde and Les Echos. He is the author of France’s recent best-selling book, La France Qui Tombe, variously translated as Falling France, France in Decline or France in Free Fall.
