Partner will bolster capabilities of Real Estate group in California
LOS ANGELES, February 18, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Steven Fein, a respected attorney with experience in real estate financing, has joined the Los Angeles office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US, the law firm has announced.
Mr. Fein joins the Real Estate group as a partner.
“We are delighted to welcome Steve to DLA Piper,” said Michael Meyer, managing partner of the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office. “His sophisticated experience in real estate financing, as well as joint ventures and private equity funds, will help us significantly expand the services we offer our clients, offering them added value in our real estate fund practice.”
Mr. Fein joins the firm on the heels of the arrival in the Los Angeles office of an eight-person real estate litigation team headed by Betty Shumener, Rob Odson and Henry Oh.
The Real Estate practice group at DLA Piper has consistently been recognized for its quality. In the Global Counsel Corporate Real Estate Handbook (2004/05), the Practical Law Company, one of the leading British publishers in the legal industry, concluded that the firm has the premier real estate practice in the United States. The most recent edition of The International Who’s Who of Real Estate Lawyers dubbed Piper Rudnick “the number one firm in the world for real estate legal expertise” and cited 12 of the firm’s real estate attorneys as recommended by their clients and peers–more than any other firm in the world. Similarly, the current edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers named 19 of the firm’s real estate attorneys as leading business lawyers in the US and ranked the real estate group in the top tier in more states than any other American firm. Most recently, Legal Media Group has announced that DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary has more lawyers considered by clients to be experts in real estate law than any other firm in the world. The results of its research are published in the fifth edition of LMG’s Expert Guides to the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers (2005).
The firm itself has been undergoing a period of dramatic evolution that has made it one of the largest law firms in the world, with more than 2,800 lawyers in 49 offices in 178 countries. Mr. Fein’s arrival is the latest aspect of the firm’s continued strategic growth to enhance its client services.
Steven Fein concentrates his practice on joint venture equity investments, joint venture formation, acquisitions and dispositions, and real estate-related lending. His real estate financing experience includes bridge financing, construction financing, securitized and conduit lendings, acquisition financing, mezzanine financings, and representation of clients in the acquisition and sale of loan portfolios.
Mr. Fein is also experienced in structuring and forming real estate funds, negotiating and preparing partnership and limited liability company agreements, and representing real estate funds in real estate joint ventures. Among the transactions he has worked on are retail, hotel, office, and apartment projects.
