17th May 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Jones Day is pleased to announce the appointment of Sebastian Hughes as a Senior Associate of the firm’s Hong Kong office.
Sebastian joins the firm’s Litigation Practice where he will be
specializing in the enforcement of intellectual property rights in China. His practice includes anti-counterfeiting work, trademarks, copyright, false advertising, anti-competitive practices, domain name disputes, and trade secrets litigation. He will also be focusing on trademark counseling and the registration and licensing of intellectual property rights within China.
Sebastian was formerly in charge of the intellectual property litigation practice at the Hong Kong office of Preston Gates & Ellis. He holds a Diploma in Chinese Language from Beijing No. 2 Foreign Language Institute, as well as a B.A. (Major in Chinese Language) and LL.B. from the University of Melbourne. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and French.
Commenting on Sebastian’s arrival, litigation partner Iain Seow said, “Sebastian is a great addition to our China IP team and we are delighted he

Jones Day’s Intellectual Property Practice comprises more than 300 lawyers, located in most of the Firm’s offices. The majority of the firm’s intellectual property professionals have undergraduate or graduate degrees in technical or scientific fields, with many having previously worked in technical disciplines, including electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical and electromechanical engineering, chemistry and chemical engineering, biotechnology, and genetics, before attending law school.
