Jennifer Ballard Elected to Women’s Bar Association of Illinois Board of Directors

Jennifer Ballard, a labor and employment attorney in the Chicago office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI). Her two-year term will begin at the 98th Annual Installation Dinner on June 7, 2012.
Ms. Ballard has been a member of the WBAI since 2008. She has served as co-chair of a number of WBAI committees, including the Judicial Evaluation Committee, the Programs Committee and the Rise Up and Reach Back Scholarship Luncheon Committee.
The WBAI was established in 1914 to promote the interests and welfare of women lawyers and also to aid in the enactment of legislation for the common good and in the administration of justice. Its stated mission is to promote and foster, advance and protect the interests and welfare of women lawyers; to encourage a spirit of friendship and mutual helpfulness among its members; to aid in the enactment of legislation for the common good and the administration of justice; and to promote and protect the interests and the rights of women.
Ms. Ballard focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment. She represents private and public sector employers in a full range of labor and employment matters, including union organizing efforts, collective bargaining negotiations and administrative hearings before the National Labor Relations Board. Ms. Ballard also routinely represents employers in federal court in employment-related disputes and litigation.
Ms. Ballard earned her J.D., with a certificate in health law, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2008. She received her B.A. in 2005 from Spelman College, where she graduated magna cum laude.
