News Corp Phone Hacking Cases Set To Proceed

LawFuel.com – The Financial Times reports that civil lawsuits against News Corporation are ready to go to trial next June after the court held a further hearing on Thursday in respect of proceedings being brought by more than 154 alleged hacking victims.

The FT reports:
They say their voicemails were intercepted by journalists working for the now-defunct Sunday tabloid the News of the World, owned by NGN.

The first tranche of 60 lawsuits had been due to go to trial last February, but all cases were settled by the time the hearings were due to start.

In the second round, the Metropolitan Police has disclosed documents in 680 cases, resulting in 154 claims. The trial was due to start next February, but has been shifted back to June.
