New York, December 14, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP is proud to announce that, effective January 1, 2006, Lawrence P. Lenzner, Catherine Grevers Schmidt and Sarah E. Zgliniec will become partners of the firm and Karen R. Berry will become counsel to the firm.

Lawrence P. Lenzner specializes in real estate transactions, particularly commercial leasing, primarily representing landlords. He also has significant experience in commercial subleasing, commercial real estate financing (representing both borrowers and lenders), loan workouts and restructurings, and the purchase and sale of real property. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a member of the Columbia Business Law Review, and his B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Beta Gamma Sigma Scholar and a Pi Gamma Mu Scholar.

Catherine Grevers Schmidt specializes in estate planning, administration of trusts and estates, Surrogate’s Court practice, and planning for charitable giving and for the inter-generational transfer of wealth. Her practice also encompasses contested estate and gift tax proceedings, and she has represented clients before the United States Tax Court. She represents high net worth individuals and families in tax and estate planning as well as individuals, banks and trust companies in their capacity as executors and trustees, and is a regular speaker on estate and gift tax topics. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from New York University School of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and the New York University Law Review. Ms. Schmidt received her masters degree in psychology from Harvard University and her B.S. cum laude from Georgetown University.

Sarah E. Zgliniec specializes in complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property litigation, law firm defense, and antitrust litigation. Her diverse practice includes litigating trademark, licensing, and false advertising disputes, representing music industry clients on a broad range of issues, and defending a major law firm in a partnership dispute. Before joining the firm in 1998, Ms. Zgliniec served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Reena Raggi, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from New York University School of Law, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and Associate Editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. She received her B.A. magna cum laude from Dartmouth College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Karen R. Berry is a member of the transactional intellectual property group specializing in counseling and licensing involving copyright, trademark, privacy, and other intellectual property for a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including clients in the publishing, entertainment, fashion, new media, and computer industries, as well as educational and cultural institutions. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Kentucky.
