Washington, DC, USA, 13 May 2014 – Howard Weissman has joined Baker & McKenzie’s compliance practice as Counsel, adding decades of experience in designing and strengthening anti-corruption compliance programs in the defense industry. Mr. Weissman most recently was Vice President & Associate General Counsel-International at Lockheed Martin, where he worked for more than 25 years.

While at Lockheed Martin, Mr. Weissman provided anti-corruption compliance advice to all of Lockheed Martin’s business areas, as well as its international field offices, foreign subsidiaries, and international joint venture companies. He managed the company’s compliance with the FCPA and foreign anti-corruption laws and the US anti-boycott laws. He also managed the company’s legal oversight of international consultant-related matters and compliance with foreign agency laws.

Mr. Weissman designed and implemented the anti-corruption law compliance program at Lockheed Martin, including an enhanced policy in light of UK Bribery Act enactment, and conducted training and provided advice on the new policy throughout the corporation. In addition, Mr. Weissman regularly conducted FCPA due diligence for proposed acquisitions as well as for international joint venture partners, teammates, consultants and other third parties. He also frequently has presented at conferences, seminars, briefings, and training sessions on FCPA compliance.

Mr. Weissman received his Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, in 1972. In 1975, Howard received his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law, where he was a member of the Boston University Law Review. In addition, Mr. Weissman received an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University in 1983.
