PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – Gregory Young, Jr., 37, of the Gila River Indian Community, Ariz., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Roslyn O. Silver to 10 years in federal prison for stabbing a family member during a birthday party. Young was found guilty by a federal jury on May 7, 2008, of Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
On February 17, 2007, during a birthday party held on the Gila River Indian Community, Young stabbed a male family member below his rib cage leaving a large wound. The victim was air-evacuated to a hospital in Phoenix where it was determined that the victim’s colon had been perforated.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Gila River Indian Community Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Raynette Logan, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
