Specialist disputes firm Lindsay Francis & Mangan has added another name to the door, becoming Lindsay Francis Mangan & Lee, with Sydney founding partner Matt Lee formally joining the firm’s name.

The move reflects Lee’s role in establishing and developing the firm’s Sydney operation, which opened in early 2025 as LFM pushed its specialist litigation and arbitration practice further into the Australian market.

The firm now operates across Auckland, Singapore and Sydney.

Lee came to LFM with significant disputes credentials. Before launching the firm’s Australian operation, he headed the Australian business of litigation finance giant Burford Capital. Earlier, he spent more than seven years with Quinn Emanuel in New York.

A Fulbright W.G. Walker Scholar at Harvard Law School, Lee is admitted in Australia and New York and is a Fellow of both the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

His trans-Pacific experience has become a particular feature of the Sydney practice. Lee has described his work as including advising US clients on Australian disputes and helping Australian and Asia-Pacific clients navigate US litigation and arbitration. He was also recently appointed co-chair of the New York State Bar Association International Section’s Australian Chapter.

In June, regulatory and commercial litigator Jacob Barry joined the Auckland partnership, bringing experience in major competition and regulatory proceedings.
