Former Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General Joins Leading Global Practice

Washington, D.C., February 25, 2008 – LAWFUEL – Law Newswire – Baker & McKenzie announced that Senior Counsel to the U.S. Deputy Attorney General will join its Washington, D.C. office as a Partner on March 3, 2008. Meyer will play an integral role in the firm’s North American Litigation – Business Crimes and Investigations, and Corporate Compliance and Risk Management practices. She will also work closely with the firm’s global Dispute Resolution practice, which has more than 700 lawyers around the world.

Extensive Corporate Compliance Experience
Meyer has spent nearly her entire career in public service, with nearly 25 years in high-level positions in federal and state government. Since January 2006, she has served as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, providing strategic advice on complex criminal litigation, including corporate fraud. She also played an active role in revising the Department’s corporate charging policy, implementing the changes nationwide, and monitoring the results. As Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, Meyer managed the operation of the President’s Corporate Fraud Task Force and coordinated inter-agency discussion of emerging threats to the marketplace.

Before becoming Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, Meyer served the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Michigan for 9 years, rising from an Assistant U.S. Attorney to the Chief of the Criminal Division. As Chief of the Criminal Division, Meyer assigned all criminal cases and evaluated attorney performance in case development and case presentation. She coordinated with federal criminal investigative agencies to identify district-wide law enforcement priorities and distribute prosecutive resources effectively.
