Briefcase Blog – John Bowie – The Legal Fees Index Let’s talk legal fees for a moment. The recession must be driving them down faster than the gravitational pull felt by the US economy, right? Wrong, actually. The last quarterly Producers Price Index, released last month for the March 2009 quarter includes “legal services: personal and corporate” as well as “accounting services”. A long-time observer of the tables has noted the long time pre-eminence of accounting fees over legal costs. The interesting thing is that legal fees increased by 6.6 per cent in the March quarter, compared to 4.8 per cent for accounting fees.
