Chicago, August 19 LAWFUEL – Best on the Net for legal news, law news, law articles – Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that the firm will receive the 2004 CIO 100 award given annually by CIO magazine. The CIO 100 recognizes the top 100 companies worldwide that have demonstrated positive business performance by creating an integrated enterprise with technologies and processes that improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The 2004 honorees will be recognized as the “Agile 100” because of their ability to construct a flexible enterprise through creative information technology systems that allow the organization to adapt quickly to changing business conditions and have a positive impact on their organization’s growth.

Foley & Lardner earned the CIO 100 award because of its ability to develop information technology applications and processes that go beyond agile software development. For example:

• Foley & Lardner created formal training programs to keep information technology staff informed of new technologies. The firm created the Technology Orientation Program (TOP) to educate new team members on the “business” of a law firm, so that they have a feel for the firm’s philosophy of providing outstanding client service.

• The firm solved problems encountered by many of its clients through quick deployment of information technology applications such as FOLEY:ClientSuite, an advanced extranet concept. For example, the FOLEY:ClientSuite extranet site assisted one client in meeting federal compliance deadlines, saving them millions of dollars.

• The firm recognized strategic opportunities in markets in which it did not have a presence – Detroit, New York, Silicon Valley and Tokyo – and was rapidly able to enter these markets within the last three years by realigning technological resources to meet clients’ needs. In some cases, this required the firm to be nimble in executing acquisition of other law firms and integrating disparate technologies.

“Our decision-making agility at the management level enables us to act quickly to invest in solutions that address emerging business requirements,” said Doug Caddell, chief information officer for Foley & Lardner. “This philosophy has resulted in a firm that is at the top of industry management benchmarks and is recognized as a strong, stable leader.”

The firm will receive the CIO 100 award at the magazine’s sixth annual CIO 100 Symposium Awards Ceremony on August 24 in Colorado Springs, CO.
