CHICAGO, August 2, 2004 Read today’s legal news, law, law firm news, legal research at LAWFUEL – Piper Rudnick attorney Vincent A. Sanchez has been named as one of “40 Illinois Attorneys under 40 to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, the law firm has announced.

The recognition honors young Illinois attorneys who are “true leaders in their profession… regarded by peers, clients, and, yes, even courtroom opponents as out-of-the-ordinary talents,” stated the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. They are chosen in a nomination process that takes into account the candidates’ career achievements, how far they have risen in their fields, and their community work.

“That Vinny was chosen for this important distinction is gratifying, but it isn’t surprising,” said Allen Ginsburg, managing partner of Piper Rudnick’s Chicago office. “We already regard him as one of our rising stars, and an attorney of exceptional intelligence, insight and tact.”

Mr. Ginsburg continued, “His hard work exemplifies Piper Rudnick’s philosophy of top-flight client service.”

Mr. Sanchez says he developed many of the leadership skills that are the foundation of his success during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, where he began his legal career in the Judge Advocate General Corps. During his service he received the Commandant’s Trophy, awarded to the top officer candidate based on leadership and physical and academic performance.

He focuses his practice in the areas of technology-related transactions, electronic commerce and privacy, outsourcing, and general corporate law, advising Fortune 500 companies, as well as emerging companies, in the acquisition, divestiture, and licensing of various technologies, products, and services, either for strategic use in their businesses or for distributing, licensing, or selling such products or services to third parties. He also serves as general counsel to emerging companies focused primarily on technology, and in that capacity has negotiated venture capital transactions, financing, and mergers and acquisitions on their behalf.

His extensive volunteer work includes serving on the advisory board of the West Suburban Technology Enterprise Center. Mr. Sanchez is a member and the former chair of the board of directors of i.c. stars, a nonprofit dedicated to guiding young inner-city adults to become the technology leaders of tomorrow. He also serves on Piper Rudnick’s Diversity Committee, whose goal is to develop strategies to recruit minority lawyers while building mentoring programs that develop all the firm’s lawyers.

Every year, Piper Rudnick sponsors Harry L. Rudnick Scholarships, in honor of the memory of this founder of the firm, providing tuition reimbursement and schedule accommodations that enable firm attorneys to participate in an MBA degree program. Mr. Sanchez recently earned his MBA degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management under a Harry L. Rudnick scholarship.

The Law Bulletin Publishing Company is the publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine.
