Chicago, IL, June 14, 2004 – LAWFUEL – Baker & McKenzie has been selected as one of the top ten corporate law firms in America for the fourth consecutive year, according to a survey of more than 2,000 directors of publicly traded companies given by Corporate Board Member magazine. The Firm holds its sixth place ranking in the annual survey, moving up three spots since the study began in 2001.

Corporate Board Member magazine sent questionnaires to 20,715 directors sitting on boards of public companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, or American Stock Exchange and 1,043 general counsels of publicly traded companies. Respondents were asked to select 10 national firms they would most likely turn to for corporate legal matters from a list of 70. The top 20 law firms in America are listed in the magazine’s July/August 2004 special legal issue, “America’s Best Lawyer’s”.

In a separate survey, the magazine asked corporate general counsels which law firms they would most want to represent their companies on national matters. Baker & McKenzie ranked 12th in the General Counsel survey for the second year running. The Firm was one of only 16 Firms to make both the GC short list and the “Best Corporate Law Firm” top 20.

“It is tremendously rewarding to once again be distinguished by America’s corporate directors, an esteemed and critical audience,” said John Conroy, Baker & McKenzie’s North American Managing Partner. “Our focus on ‘best team’ client servicing here in

North America and throughout the world wins the nod from the corporate boardroom in this survey. We are especially pleased to also rank highly in the minds of General Counsel for our national work.”

Corporate Board Member magazine is received by 47,892 directors and officers of publicly traded U.S. corporations listed on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, or American Stock Exchange.
