Clyde & Co - Growth Down Under

Clyde & Co - Growth Down UnderUK-based Clyde & Co is to continue its aggressive Australian expansion, including by poaching partners, a Law.com report says.

The firm has experienced strong, double-digit growth on the back of litigation growth in the Australian market, since establishing itself in Australia in 2012.

“We are aggressively pursuing growth in each of the industries that we are focusing on,” said Michael Tooma (pictured), the managing partner of Clyde & Co Australia.

“And we are doing that organically in terms of promotions from existing talent within Australia and we are doing it by actively being in the market for lateral partners in those industries.”

Globally, Clyde & Co’s revenue increased by more than 11%, to £611 million ($775 million) over the past year, according to Legal Week.

Although a broad-based practice, the firm is focused particularly on growing via litigation opportunities, including being funded by litigation funding companies, and others.

“The environment in that space has been quite favorable to law firms generally,” he said.
