Dallas 17 November 2004 – LAWFUEL – Law firm, attorney, legal news – Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, is pleased to announce David T. Norton and Perry L. Butler have joined the firm to establish an Aviation Law Section. Also joining the firm’s Transactional Law practice is Dominic M. Federico.

Mr. Norton joins as a Partner and will serve as head of the new Aviation Law Section. He is nationally recognized for his broad range of regulatory, transactional and commercial dispute work in the aviation industry, focusing primarily on the various complex FAA/DOT, federal and state tax, and purchase, lease and management issues that face corporate and high-net-worth operators of business aircraft. He also has extensive expertise in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, including issues arising out of the telecommunications and computer information systems industries. Mr. Norton earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, received a Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University and is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and former U.S. Air Force pilot.

Mr. Butler joins the firm as Of Counsel. He represents clients in all aspects of complex regulatory and tax management issues in the aviation industry, and in transactional matters including aircraft purchase and management agreements. Mr. Butler is a former pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and currently flies a Boeing 737 for American Airlines. He earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law.

Mr. Federico joins the firm as an Associate with a practice in the areas of real estate and corporate transactions. Mr. Federico has prior experience as general counsel in the banking and finance industry. His in-house work in real estate development and acquisition, software licensing and technology transactions offers him a broad range of insider’s knowledge from a company and client perspective. He earned his law degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law.
