DETROIT (2 February 2004) – The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., has re-elected John R. Cook and elected Michael W. Hartmann and Brad B. Arbuckle to serve two-year terms as managing directors. Michael W. Hartmann was elected to serve as chair of the managing directors. They join CEO Thomas W. Linn; Deputy CEO Beverly Hall Burns; and Managing Directors Thomas C. Phillips and Amanda Van Dusen in administering the firm’s 15 offices.

John R. Cook is a principal in the firm’s Kalamazoo office. He was with the Kalamazoo law firm of Brown, Colman, & DeMent, P.C. when it merged with Miller Canfield in 1984. Presently, he is a co-leader of the West Michigan Business Practice Group, practicing banking, securities and corporate law, with emphasis on secured transaction law, commercial loans and loan workouts. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, and the Kalamazoo County Bar Association. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, and his B.A., cum laude, from Kalamazoo College.

Michael W. Hartmann is a principal in the Detroit office and practices commercial litigation. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, and serves on the arbitration panel of the American Arbitration Association. He is listed in the Business Litigation Section of The Best Lawyers in America. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, and his A.B. from the University of Michigan.

Brad B. Arbuckle, a principal in the Troy office, practices banking, corporate, and securities law and is a member of the Corporate Compliance Group, Automotive Industry Group and High Technology Ventures Practice Group. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. His B.A., with distinction, is from the University of Michigan.
