DLA Piper’s Corporate Practice in Hong Kong Strengthened with New Partner

LawFuel.com –

Melody He-Chen has joined DLA Piper as a partner in the Corporate practice in Hong Kong, adding further strength to the firm’s award-winning Capital Markets Group.

He-Chen advises investment banks and corporations on capital markets and corporate matters in Asia and the United States, where she has also practiced. She focuses on securities offerings and also regularly advises clients on financings, private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions,  and compliance matters. She has worked on numerous equity capital markets transactions involving Chinese corporates and other companies, which include global offerings and listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, SEC registered offerings, secondary offerings, rights issues and share placings. Her debt capital markets practice covers a broad range of products, including high yield debt, credit-enhanced bonds, investment grade bonds, RMB dim sum bonds, and equity-linked products such as convertible bonds.

Terry O’Malley, Chairman Emeritus of DLA Piper said: “Melody is a high calibre lawyer and a great addition to the Hong Kong Corporate Group. Her ability to advise on Hong Kong and United States capital markets transactions, and her Chinese language skills make her a high quality addition to our capital markets group. Melody’s experience of working in the United States will help further align the Asia business with the strategic objectives of the firm and reflects the growing business flows we are seeing between the two regions.”

Paul Chen, partner and Head of Corporate, Asia at DLA Piper added: “I am pleased to welcome Melody to the Corporate Group in Asia and look forward to working with her to develop and strengthen our offering for clients in the region.”

He-Chen hails from Morrison & Foerster’s Hong Kong office, where she was a partner.  Her arrival follows last week’s announcement that partners John Viverito, Joe Bauerschmidt and Myles Hankin joined DLA Piper’s Corporate group in Singapore.
