Fulbright & Jaworski is pleased to announce that Ray Albrecht has joined the firm’s Houston office as Counsel. Ray brings over 20 years of experience to Fulbright, serving as in-house counsel at Transco Energy Co., Duke Energy Corp, and most recently as Assistant General Counsel at Ocean Energy, Inc., where he was responsible for all corporate litigation and for legal advice to the Human Resources Department.

“Ray Albrecht’s wealth of corporate litigation and regulatory experience in the energy industry, combined with his human resource expertise, make him a valuable asset to the firm’s energy practice.” said Jeff Dykes, Co-Chairman of the firm’s Energy Practice Group. “Ray can really relate to the day-to-day challenges our energy clients face.”

Ray’s experience includes managing litigation and arbitration of claims involving contract, personal injury, shareholder, government and class action both domestically and internationally. He has conducted corporate investigations and recommended corporate response to employee violation of conflicts of interest and ethics policies. Prior to attending law school, Ray was Director of Human Resources for American Rice, Inc.

A member of the State Bar of Texas since 1983, Ray is a former Chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Houston Bar Association; and Past Vice Chair, Energy Litigation Committee of the Natural Resources, Energy, Environmental Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Ray is also a member of the Board of ESCAPE Family Resource Center; Past District President of the Texas Gulf Coast Exchange Clubs and has chaired the Jesuit Volunteer Corps-South.

Ray received a B.B.A. in 1975, with high honors, from Texas Tech University and a J.D. in 1983 from The University of Texas School of Law.
