Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Bans Cell Phones

LAWFUEL – Legal Newswire – Los Angeles personal injury attorneys are seeing more and more accidents involving use of cell phones while operating motor vehicles. This problem is compounded when women especially, are trying to do their make up, drive and talk on their phones.

Evidence indicates that the use of hands free feature, and/or blue-tooth will decrease the risk of a car accident as well. On September 15, 2006 Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law legislation that passed in the California Assembly last month. The measure goes into effect in July 2008, imposing a minimum $20 fine for anyone caught driving and using a cell phone unless the driver uses a headset, ear bud or other technology that frees both hands.

Emergency situations are exempt from this new law. Now that Schwarzenegger has banned Cell Phones While Driving in Cars, many are asking if he will try and legalize marijuana, which according to sources close to Schwarzenegger , is not really a drug, but an “herb”.
