Hogan Lovells bolsters offering in Saudi Arabia with association with ZS&R Law Firm

Riyadh, 26 June 2018 – Leading global law firm Hogan Lovells has entered into an association with Riyadh-based ZS&R Law Firm. The firms will work together to provide cohesive, integrated legal advice to their national and international clients, offering a first-class service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The association is effective from today.

Riyadh-based ZS&R Law Firm was founded in 2017 by Dr. Najem Alzaid, Saad Alrashed and Turki Alsheikh. The three founding partners have diverse backgrounds with international legal experience, multilingual capabilities, and are experienced in advising on national and cross-border transactions. With a full-service offering and an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory requirements of doing business in Saudi Arabia, ZS&R Law Firm advise clients across a range of industries. They cover our key practice areas including projects, dispute resolution, banking and finance, capital markets and corporate and M&A. Under the terms of the agreement, ZS&R Law Firm will operate in association with Hogan Lovells and the two firms will work together on client matters while remaining separate legal entities.

Biographies

Dr. Najem Alzaid has vast experience in capital markets, corporate law, regulatory, legislation and public policy advising both private and public entities. Prior to ZS&R Law Firm, Dr. Najem was a Commissioner and Board Member of the Saudi Capital Market Authority (“CMA”) for nearly 3 years, appointed by a Royal Order. For 6 years prior to this he was General Counsel of the CMA. He has chaired many important committees and working groups and he was part of the Saudi Technical Team that negotiated the accession of Saudi Arabia to the World Trade Organisation. Dr. Najem has held positions at the World Bank, Al Rajhi Bank and the Islamic Development Bank Group. In addition, his expertise extends outside the practice of law, reflecting his multi dimension knowledge and perspective. He sits on various important boards of Saudi based entities and companies. He was educated at several esteemed universities including the Umm Al-Qura University, London Business School, George Washington Law School, University of Minnesota Law School and Harvard Law School.

Turki Alsheikh oversees non-contentious transactions at ZS&R, having previously worked in London and Dubai, as well as Riyadh. Turki is admitted to practice before all judicial bodies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is a leading lawyer in governmental procurement and corporate structuring, and its related commercial matters. He has been appointed to the Board of a number of Saudi Arabia-based companies, including Verizon Saudi Arabia.

Saad Alrashed specializes in public & legislative law, with a focus on contentious matters. He is qualified in England and Wales, as well as Saudi Arabia, and has experience working in several international jurisdictions. Prior to ZS&R, Saad worked at the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers in Saudi Arabia, from which he was seconded to the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and was a leading member of the team responsible for the National Transformation Program (part of Saudi Vision 2030). He was educated in the USA and UK.
