James F. Brashear Moves To Haynes and Boone from Sabre Holdings

DALLAS – LAWFUEL – Legal Jobs Newswirel – James F. Brashear, an attorney with extensive experience in corporate governance, aviation and securities law, has been named partner in the Haynes and Boone, LLP corporate/securities practice.
Mr. Brashear served for six years as corporate secretary for Sabre Holdings Corporation, a nearly $3 billion NYSE-listed company, where he led the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley Act and securities law compliance before the company was taken private in March of this year.
He served for 10 years as corporate secretary, senior vice president and deputy general counsel for that company’s global subsidiaries, including Sabre Inc. and Travelocity. And for five years Mr. Brashear was an in-house attorney for American Airlines, Inc., where he served as the lead attorney in the formation of Sabre Holdings as an independent company in 1996.

Mr. Brashear, a frequent speaker on corporate governance matters, is currently serving his second term as National Director of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and is a member of that organization’s Securities Law Committee, Corporate Practices Committee, Public Company Affairs Committee, and National Conference Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Advisors of TheCorporateCounsel.net.
He obtained his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1982 after majoring in political science with minors in European history and Spanish literature at the University of California, San Diego, which awarded him a B.A. in 1979.
Mr. Brashear was admitted to practice law in California in 1982, and Texas in 1991.
