New Intellectual Property Lawyers Ramp Up Haynes and Boone DC Practice

WASHINGTON, DC – LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – A pair of IP attorneys recently joined the Haynes and Boone, LLP Washington office to enhance and expand the firm’s client service, particularly in the development and commercialization of generic pharmaceutical and other chemical products.
Jeff Wolfson joins as partner, while Evert Uy enters as an associate. Both are moving from Winston & Strawn LLP.
“Their arrival establishes a patent practice in the DC office and fulfills a key component of our growth plan for Intellectual Property,” said Randall Brown of Dallas, head of the Haynes and Boone IP Section. “We are delighted to be able to build out our Washington-based IP work on the strong foundation provided by these two bright young lawyers.”
These lawyers further broaden the offerings of the Haynes and Boone Washington office, where partner Milton Whitfield recently expanded the presence of the firm’s outsourcing practice.
Mr. Wolfson and Ms. Uy handle all transactional aspects of patent law, including strategic client counseling and patent opinions, patent prosecution, IP due diligence in connection with mergers/acquisitions and other corporate transactions, and IP-related agreement negotiation and preparation.
A significant aspect of their practice involves evaluating the patent landscape to help clients in the pharmaceutical industry overcome legal barriers to bringing less expensive health care solutions to the consumer marketplace. Their collective expertise, however, also extends to other patent issues in various technological fields, including chemical and petrochemical processing and equipment, polymers, catalysts, electronic controllers and storage media, office products and medical devices.
Mr. Wolfson received his J.D. with honors in 1995 from The George Washington University Law School, where he was Executive Managing Editor of The George Washington Journal of International Law & Economics and on the Publication Staff of the AIPLA Q.J. His bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering came from Brown University in 1992. He is registered to practice with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, American Bar Association, American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the District of Columbia Bar Association.
Ms. Uy received a B.S. in chemistry, magna cum laude, from the University of the Philippines in 1998, and a J.D. in 2003 from the University of California Berkeley School of Law, where she was a member of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal. She is registered to practice with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Haynes and Boone, LLP is an international corporate law firm with offices in Texas, New York, Washington, D.C., Mexico City and Moscow, providing a full spectrum of legal services.
