Joint Investigation Leads to 22 Arrests and $1.3 Million Worth of Drugs Seized

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— LawFuel.com – More than a million dollars worth of methamphetamine is off the streets and 22 people are behind bars after a joint investigation by Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Office of Statewide Prosecution, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Highway Patrol Criminal Interdiction Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The 30 pounds of methamphetamine seized has a street value of more than $1.3 million.

“This is a massive amount of methamphetamine with the potential to ruin hundreds of lives here in Florida, but thanks to great police work by Sheriff Grady Judy, the DEA, all our local law enforcement partners and my Statewide Prosecutor Nick Cox these drugs are off our streets and 22 defendants are in custody.”

Acting on search warrants obtained by the Office of Statewide Prosecution, officers also seized $92,000 in cash, more than two pounds of marijuana, seven vehicles and 72 firearms. According to the investigation, the defendants were shipping the meth from California to Lakeland, Fla., Atlanta, Ga., and Las Vegas, Nev.

Tejeda-Tejeda has two prior deportations and is currently in the US illegally
