LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Announcement Service – Holman Fenwick & Willan (HFW) is delighted to announce that Tan Lian Yok has joined the firm as a Partner in Singapore, whilst in Piraeus, Alexia Kleonakos has been elected to the Partnership. In addition Xavier Ribierre has joined the Paris Office as a consultant.

Lian Yok, previously of Duane Morris and White & Case, has joined the firm’s energy and natural resources team which now has five members in Singapore. Lian Yok has an active project finance and development practice and will initially be working on the debt modification of a Philippines power project. She also brings a significant Indonesian mining practice, which complements the existing Singapore team at HFW. Lian Yok is admitted to practice in England & Wales, New York and Malaysia.

Alistair Duffield, the head of the firm’s SE Asia group said: “With the current commodities boom, the mining and natural resources sector has been very busy for our team and we have worked on some of the largest Indonesian coal mining transactions, plus iron ore and gold mining transactions. Lian Yok brings invaluable knowledge and experience on the mining side, particularly in nickel and aluminium, as well as having an established reputation representing banks and developers in major power, oil and gas and energy projects.”

Alexia joined firm’s London office in 2000 before moving to Piraeus. She specialises in non-contentious marine commercial law, with particular emphasis on shipbuilding and ship finance. She has experience in a wide range of ship finance work, acting for shipyards, shipowners, operators and banks on a broad range of transactions including financing, ship sale and purchase, shipbuilding, ship registration, charterparties and other general corporate matters.

Xavier specializes in insurance, reinsurance, banking, and corporate & structured risk finance. His practice is primarily oriented towards advisory and transactional work, advising financial institutions, financial intermediaries, and corporate end-users of financial services.

Richard Crump, Senior Partner comments, “The recruitment of Lian Yok and Xavier and the promotion of Alexia, in Singapore, Paris and Greece respectively, reflect HFW’s international focus. They all bring to HFW, practices in key areas and advance our aim of expanding within our select specialist fields.”
