Lawyers for Qualcomm started the week the same way they ended the last one: battling legal challenges from competitors.

On Monday morning, Nokia announced that it has filed complaints against Qualcomm in Germany and the Netherlands requesting declarations that Qualcomm’s European patents are exhausted in respect of products placed on the European Union market.

Nokia said that if its claim succeeds, Qualcomm would be barred in Europe from enforcing its patents in relation to Nokia handsets incorporating certain chipsets.

The complaints were filed in the Regional Court of Mannheim and in the Hague District Court, two courts that frequently handle patent matters within the EU.

The latest legal challenge follows last week’s news from Broadcom. The semiconductor company said that Qualcomm had agreed to dismiss all remaining cases initiated by Qualcomm, including claims of patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation.

In turn, Broadcom said it dismissed its counterclaims against Qualcomm in those specific cases. But the two companies aren’t done beating up on each other just yet.
