Leading Hong Kong Employment Leader Moves from Baker + McKenzie to Gall

LawFuel.com – Hong Kong-based dispute resolution and litigation specialist law firm Gall is pleased to announce the appointment of partner Jennifer Van Dale as head of its employment practice following her recent hire from Baker & McKenzie, where she headed the firm’s Hong Kong employment practice.

Jennifer is widely regarded as one of Hong Kong and the region’s leading employment lawyers. She is top ranked by the leading independent directories and is described by clients as ‘a fantastic lawyer’ (Asia Pacific Legal 500, 2013) and “ten out of ten for her” (Chambers Asia, 2013).

She takes over from Emily Duncan who led the practice for four years, as she leaves the firm to start a family.

While Jennifer Van Dale is well known for her non-contentious employment practice, the team also includes respected employment partner Michael Withington who joined the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills in 2012. His practice includes contentious employment and shareholder disputes as well as professional negligence claims. Clients comment that he resolves disputes by “thinking outside the box” (Chambers Asia, 2013). They are supported by a team of talented associates.

Gall’s employment practice in Hong Kong is widely recognised and recommended by the leading independent directories, being highly ranked by both the Asia Pacific Legal 500, 2013 and by Chambers Asia, 2013.

The team advises corporate employers in relation to both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The practice also advises in relation to data protection, discrimination and restrictive covenants.

Gall Senior Partner, Nick Gall, comments:

‘We are delighted that Jennifer has agreed to lead the practice so we can seamlessly support clients in their contentious and non-contentious employment requirements. We also thank Emily and extend to her our best wishes for the future. While we are of course sorry she is leaving the firm, Jennifer’s leadership will help us to maintain – and further develop – our reputation as one of Hong Kong’s leading employment law firms and the leading independent dispute resolution firm in Hong Kong”.
