Loeb & Loeb Continues to Grow Nashville Office with Addition of Music Industry Attorney Joseph Brazil

NASHVILLE, November 6, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Joseph F. Brazil, an entertainment business attorney has joined the firm’s Nashville office as Special Counsel. Brazil has extensive experience in the country music and Christian music industries. Previously, he served as Vice President of Business Affairs for EMI in Nashville and in 2005 he became a licensed patent attorney. Brazil will practice with Loeb & Loeb’s Entertainment and Media Department and with the firm’s Patent Team.

“As our practices continue to grow in Nashville, we are committed to adding experienced lawyers in our core practice areas serving the music industry, as well as bringing laterals in to support other national practice areas that are important to our clients,” said John T. Frankenheimer, Co-Chair of Loeb & Loeb. “Joseph is a very well regarded music industry attorney and is well known in Nashville for providing first rate legal and business counsel. His related patent experience enhances our existing national team of well-recognized patent lawyers spread throughout our four offices.”

Brazil added, “Intellectual property matters were always important to running a profitable entertainment business, but patents will become increasingly crucial in the future. Over the next few years we’re going to see an increase in the number of patent issues affecting the entertainment industry. It’s vital for new and traditional media and entertainment companies to stay ahead of these trends.”

At EMI Brazil handled the business and legal affairs for Capitol Records Nashville and for EMI Music-Christian Label Group, whose rosters collectively included more than 50 recording artists. There he also supervised and oversaw those attorneys directly responsible for the business and legal affairs for various other EMI record labels and music publishers with 80 recording artists. Brazil has successfully handled a multitude of transactions and agreements for his clients relating to recorded products, music publishing, distribution, Internet and new media, graphic arts, marketing and promotions, contests and book publishing.

Brazil received his J.D. (1993) from Emory University School of Law, where he earned a letter of Superior Performance from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He earned his B.S. (1989) from Vanderbilt University School of Engineering.
