1 February 2018 – Mayer Brown announced today that its innovative Global Mobility & Migration team, which is an essential component of the firm’s Employment & Benefits practice, has launched a blog, “The Mobile Workforce.” The blog is designed to provide businesses with up-to-date changes pertaining to global migration developments and trends.

Mayer Brown partners Elizabeth (Liz) Espín Stern and Grace Shie will serve as the blog’s editors. Regular contributors will include Mayer Brown lawyers Paul W. Virtue, Lisa Pino, Paul J. Sarauskas, Timothy C. D’Arduini and Maximillian L. Del Rey.

The blog’s writers will analyze and comment on legal, regulatory and compliance changes that affect the ability of employers to deploy mobile workers to host countries and restrict business travel. The blog will regularly feature “Mayer Brown Mobility Mythbusters” to decipher the news of the day and help companies manage misinformation.

According to Ms. Stern, “To thrive in today’s economy, the most enterprising and successful businesses depend on a global—and increasingly mobile—workforce. However, staying on top of ever-changing requirements for business travelers and international expatriates is an increasingly complex process. On a daily basis, we are seeing alarmist headlines, which lead to a flood of misinformation and anxiety for companies and their employees. Our blog is designed to arm employers with practical knowledge to manage and reduce risk and advance global staffing goals during this challenging political environment.”

“From new administration policies and Brexit to worldwide court decisions, issues related to the area of global mobility are highly active and the launch of this blog will enable our team to disseminate information promptly as key legal, regulatory and compliance developments occur,” added Ms. Shie.

In addition to the new blog, the firm’s Global Mobility & Migration group has launched a number of innovative tools to navigate the complex set of regulatory requirements and legal risks associated with management of executives and professionals around the world, including the MBMobility Portal.
