PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – Gregory Thomas Cardullo, 25, of Mesa, Ariz., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow to 160 months in prison to be followed by lifetime supervised release. Cardullo must also register as a sex offender upon his release from prison. Cardullo pleaded guilty on November 6, 2007 to one Count of Distribution of Child Pornography and one Count of Receiving Child Pornography.
During an operation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Cardullo sent an undercover agent several images of child pornography, believing the agent to be another pornographer. The images where of children performing sexual acts and as a result, a search warrant was obtained to enter Cardullo’s residence and seize his computer. Over 1800 images and many videos of child pornography were found. Cardullo admitted that he had traded these images over the Internet. It was also learned that as a juvenile, Cardullo had molested several children.
The investigation in this case was conducted by ICE and the Toronto, Canada, Police Service. The prosecution was handled by Vincent Q. Kirby, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
