Miami, April 20, 2004 – Holland & Knight LLP announced today Florida State
Representative Manny Prieguez will join its Public Policy and Regulatory
Group in its Miami office next month. As part of one of the nation’s
largest law firms, the Public Policy and Regulatory Group concentrates on
federal, state, and local government relations for clients around the
world. Yesterday, Rep. Prieguez announced his plans not to seek
reelection and join Holland & Knight.

“We’re continuing to add top notch professionals to our group across the
nation and excited to have Manny on our team in Miami,” said Adolfo
Jimenez, H&K’s Miami hiring partner. “Manny calls Miami home and is the
perfect person to help our clients navigate the local political and policy
landscape of Miami-Dade County and its more than 25 municipalities.”

Prieguez will join the Holland & Knight Miami office on May 17 as a Senior
Policy Advisor. He leaves the state legislature after serving six years
and having built a reputation as a hard-working and effective legislator.
While serving as chairman of the House Republican Hispanic Caucus he
brought a fair and trusted voice to diversity issues. He also served as
chairman of the House Business Regulation Committee and was a member of
the Health Care; Health Services; Appropriations; Commerce and Local
Affairs Appropriations; and State Administration Committees.

With its diverse and far reaching experience in legislative and regulatory
issues at the national, state and local levels, Holland & Knight’s Public
Policy and Regulatory Group is truly unique from other national firms.
Clients benefit from sound public policy counsel formulated by team
members that include lawyers, lobbyists, economists, former lawmakers such
as retired U.S. Representative Tillie K. Fowler and communications
professionals from across the United States.

“I am impressed with the depth of Holland & Knight’s public policy
experience and its long tradition of commitment to our state,” Prieguez
said. “I’m looking forward to spending more time in my hometown and help
strengthen the firm’s presence here.”

Throughout his tenure in Tallahassee, Prieguez has directed export sales
in his family’s business, Miami River Lobster and Stone Crab. He earned a
bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in 1993.
