Mother Makes Christmas Plea For Contact From Missing Son – Stanley Francis ‘John’ McGuire

LawFuel – Australia & New Zealand Legal Jobs & News – The mother of Stanley Francis “John” Maguire has made an emotional appeal for him to contact her this Christmas.

Sylvia Maguire, 82, has not spoken to her son since November 24 – the same day a 41-year-old man was fatally shot in Woonona, allegedly by Mr Maguire.

Maguire, 60, has not been seen or heard from since. There is an arrest warrant for Mr Maguire.

Mrs Maguire said despite what has been written about her son in newspapers and what he is alleged to have done, as his mother she knows him in a different way.

“As his mother I know he had his faults. But I know a John that is kind hearted and who would do anything for anyone. He was always helping people. Fixing their TVs, cars or other things. He was a good mechanic,” she said in a prepared statement in Sydney this morning.

“This is killing me, not knowing. I’m 82 years old, I can’t cope with this. I’m not sleeping, I’m not eating. I go to bed crying and I wake up during the night crying. I’m sick with worry – I don’t know if he is dead or alive.”

Despite extensive searches on the Central Coast area where a red Nissan Pulsar Maguire was using was found on November 25, there have been few clues to his whereabouts. Cadaver dogs have also been used to go through dense bushland.

Crimestoppers have received a few phone calls since the search but they have not led to any confirmation of Maguire’s whereabouts.

Maguire’s description and a photo has be placed on the NSW Police Force Most Wanted internet site www.police.nsw.gov.au.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Ainsworth from Wollongong LAC renewed the national appeal for Maguire to come forward or anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.

“The police would like to reiterate earlier appeals, however this time it is a national appeal. We don’t know where he is – he could be anywhere in the country, Melbourne, Townsville, Perth and anywhere in between,” Det Snr Sgt Ainsworth said.

“We need to investigate all avenues in order to be satisfied for ourselves, and families, that we have done everything in our power to find this man.

“Again, any truck drivers that may have picked up a man fitting Maguire’s description on Sunday November 25 on the F3 should contact police.

“He may have hitchhiked after allegedly dumping his car. Police can’t rule out that he wasn’t picked up and headed north or south and could be anywhere in the state or in the country for that matter.”

Det Snr Sgt Ainsworth thanked members of the public for the information they had given to police and encouraged them to report any further details which may assist detectives.

“We urge the public to continue letting us know if they see or hear anything that could help our investigation,” he said.

“Maguire’s photo and description has been placed on the NSW Police Force website on the Most Wanted list. We reiterate our earlier warning to the public – do not approach this man if sighted. Contact police on triple 0 immediately.”

Stanley Francis Maguire is described as being of white/European appearance, 176 cm tall, medium build, with short grey hair and blue eyes. He is also believed to have a number of tattoos on both forearms.

Anyone who knows the current whereabouts of Stanley Francis Maguire, or who has information about the incident, is urged to phone Wollongong Police on 4226 7899, your nearest police station, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
