New York, July 21, 2004 – Baker & McKenzie today announced the strengthening of its North American Corporate & Securities Practice with the addition of Roslyn Tom as Partner in its New York Office. Ms. Tom joins the Firm from Dewey Ballantine LLP.

Ms. Tom specializes in domestic and international securities offerings, including SEC-registered offerings and NYSE listings, and both public and private mergers and acquisitions. She also advises clients on corporate governance matters and issues relating to the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. She has been engaged in several transactions involving China and Japan, representing government issuers of Yankee bond offerings, and Chinese issuers in IPOs and NYSE listings.

Ms. Tom will continue to focus her practice on domestic and international securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity and corporate restructuring.

She also will work closely with Baker & McKenzie’s tax lawyers, as well the North American region’s China Practice. Her proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese, along with her experience involving Chinese and Japanese transactions, will contribute extensively to the Firm’s China business initiatives.

Ms. Tom is a graduate of Yale Law School, where she was the Note Topics Editor of the Yale Law Journal. She received an A.B. degree summa cum laude in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard College. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York. Ms. Tom is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is currently a member of the Committee on Private Investment Funds.
