Gussack of Pepper Hamilton LLP has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Rainmaker Award by the Transformative Leadership Awards Committee. The annual awards recognition program honors law firm partners and general counsel who have demonstrated commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law.

In 2007, Ms. Gussack was elected chair of Pepper Hamilton’s Executive Committee, the first woman in the firm’s history to hold that position. She is one of the few women chief executives of a major law firm in the country. In addition, Ms. Gussack chairs the firm’s Health Effects Litigation Practice Group. Her trial practice is concentrated in civil litigation, with a primary emphasis in the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device companies regarding marketed products, investigational new drugs, medical devices and over-the-counter drug products. Ms. Gussack serves as national coordinating and trial counsel and as regional counsel in pharmaceutical litigation, including class actions and multi-district litigation.
Recipients of the Transformative Leadership Awards will be recognized during a gala dinner on April 16, 2013 at Gotham Hall in New York City. Awards are presented in seven categories, recognizing career achievements as well as the individual’s commitment to leadership, courage, advancement and empowerment of women. Award submissions are reviewed and selected by a committee of the nation’s top general counsels and senior legal officers.
