January 14, 2009 (LAWFUEL) – Nixon Peabody is pleased to announce that Jean-Norbert Pontier has joined the firm as a partner in the Global Finance Practice. Mr. Pontier will be resident in the Paris office and lead the firm’s finance practice in France. Mr. Pontier joins the firm from Lovells LLP. Previously, he worked at Sidley Austin.

Mr. Pontier focuses his practice on banking, corporate finance and structured finance, as well as investment bank and capital markets disputes, with an emphasis on complex finance structures and securitization. He has advised many arrangers, senior lenders, real estate debt funds and originators on property financing, and corporate acquisition transactions involving a variety of different underlying assets.

Arnaud de Senilhes, Paris managing partner, said, “Jean-Norbert is a great addition to our firm. His legal skills and knowledge base are impressive and complimentary to ours. Jean-Norbert’s arrival will support the build-out of our finance and private equity practices in Paris as we grow our presence in France to best serve our clients’ international business needs.”

“Jean-Norbert’s background is particularly strong in securitization, a key area of concern for our clients, but he also brings a broad knowledge in finance which will strengthen our infrastructure, leveraged buyouts and real estate capabilities,” added Mats G. Carlston, leader of the firm’s Global Finance practice and co-leader of the firm’s global strategies initiative. “Additionally, Jean-Norbert’s experience in practicing in both Paris and London, with U.S. and U.K firms, provides him added perspective and dimension – a valuable asset for our clients.”
