Powell Goldstein announced the launch of its Logistics Practice Group with a team of more than 26 attorneys from a variety of practice areas in both of the Firm’s Washington and Atlanta offices.

“The logistics practice initiative brings to bear both industry knowledge and depth of experience in legal practice specialties which are particularly critical to logistics industry clients. Practice expertise includes experience with supply chain issues such as long-term outsourcing arrangements to 3PL’s and the structuring of distribution systems consistent with tax,
intellectual property, insurance, security and privacy considerations. The firm also has depth in relevant regulatory issues such as customs, export control, labor and workplace requirements, labeling and food laws,” said Tom McNeill, Atlanta Co-Chair of the Logistics Practice. “We represent the interests of clients that include major defense contractors, software companies, manufacturers, national restaurant chains and several of the country’s largest retail companies,” said John Daniel, the group’s Washington Co-Chair.

Jim McAlpin, Powell, Goldstein’s Chairman-elect, stated, “Our Logistics Practice is the latest example of the integrated service solutions we have developed to better serve our clients’ needs. Our seasoned advisors, deal- makers, and litigators are organized around industry-focused client service teams. This service model is more efficient, allows us to address client
issues before they become problems and fosters deeper partnerships between our
clients and the Firm.”

“Site selection, software, security, transportation and outsourcing issues are all inter-related. It takes a team, with the breadth of experience our Logistics people have to help our clients do business in today’s inventory on demand world,” said Armin Brecher, Powell Goldstein’s Chairman.
