Anderson Lloyd clients Pike River Coal Limited and Solid Energy New Zealand Limited have signed an agreement for the transport of coal from the Pike River underground mine near Greymouth, to the port of Lyttelton. Under the agreement, Solid Energy guarantees Pike River capacity to transport up to 1.3 million tonnes a year on the rail line from late 2008.

“This agreement is great news for a key transport connection that nearly disappeared four years ago,” says Solid Energy Chief Executive Officer, Dr Don Elder. (Follow the link to www.solidenergy.co.nz and go to: about Solid Energy>media releases to read more.)

Prior to this agreement, Anderson Lloyd had successfully applied for resource consents to transport the coal by road to Greymouth, but these will now only be needed to transport the coal from the mine to the rail head at Ikamatua.
