Luce Forward Partner Kathy Jorrie was selected as one of California’s “Top 100 Attorneys” by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. The list, which was published in today’s issue, recognizes 100 attorneys throughout California whose skills and leadership have helped shape the legal landscape and society in general.
Jorrie leads Luce Forward’s Los Angeles office and has maintained a diversified and thriving practice in the entertainment arena for more than a decade. Her practice includes both transactional and litigation work domestically and internationally. In the past year, Jorrie successfully represented AEG Live, one of the country’s largest concert and live entertainment promoters, in its dealings with Michael Jackson in connection with the “This Is It” tour, as well as the legal issues that ensued after Jackson’s tragic death.
“Kathy’s work, while typically multifaceted, has been particularly complex during this past year and it is wonderful to see her recognized for her success and hard work,” said Kurt L. Through her representation of AEG Live, Jorrie has negotiated and prepared tour agreements for national and/or international tours of many of today’s blockbuster music artists such as Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, The Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus, Tina Turner, Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Justin Bieber and Beyoncé. In addition to her live event work, Jorrie handles other entertainment matters including, without limitation, touring exhibition work for a variety of exhibitions including “Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs”; and litigation and transaction work related to television distribution deals and film related matters. Among her other victories, she successfully represented the DISH Network and others in their battle with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences over the use of the “Oscar” trademark.
