Three Leading Corporate Attorneys will join DLA Piper Martinez Beltran in Colombia

DLA Piper announced today that Juan Manuel de la Rosa, Felipe Quintero and José Miguel Mendoza, three leading corporate attorneys in Colombia, have joined DLA Piper Martinez Beltran as partners in the Bogotá, Colombia, office, boosting the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate practices.

Quintero, who holds an LLM degree from Harvard University, joins the firm from Garrigues Abogados y Asesores Tributarios, where he was a partner and served as head of the M&A practice. He also worked as a foreign associate at the London office of Cravath, Swaine & Moore and is also a professor of business and financial contracts at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.

Mendoza, who holds a doctoral degree from Oxford University, previously served as chief judge for Colombia’s corporate law court and is a professor of corporate law at Universidad de los Andes.

De la Rosa, who holds and LLM degree from Columbia University, joins from Baker McKenzie’s Bogotá office, where he was a partner and served as co-head of the Mergers and Acquisitions and Banking and Finance practice. He also worked as a foreign associate at the New York office of Chadbourne & Parke.

The addition of Quintero, Mendoza and de la Rosa follows several moves by DLA Piper in recent years across Latin America, including establishing cooperation agreements with Martinez Beltran in Colombia, Pizarro, Botto & Escobar Abogados in Peru and Bahamondez Alvarez y Zegers in Chile, as well as opening an office in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The firm also has a cooperation agreement with Campos Mello in Brazil.
