Background
Sen. Cornyn, a member of the Judiciary Committee, has long supported
implementing medical liability reform legislation to provide much-needed
relief for a health care system in crisis due to rampant lawsuit abuse. Sen.
Cornyn has worked hard for passage of legislation to reform the civil justice
system, including class action and bankruptcy bills earlier this year. He also
played a key role in passage of a bill to end frivolous lawsuits against gun
manufacturers or sellers. Cornyn recently introduced legislation to protect
volunteers from lawsuit abuse, and another to protect manufacturers of
respirators from claims for which the manufacturers should bear no liability.

Sen. Cornyn is a member of the following key Senate Committees: Armed
Services; Judiciary; Budget; Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Joint
Economic. He is also the chairman of the subcommittees on Immigration, Border
Security and Citizenship; and Emerging Threats and Capabilities. In addition,
he is a member of the Judiciary subcommittees on Intellectual Property, and
Constitution, Civil Rights and Property Rights. Sen. Cornyn is a member of the
Task Force on Health Care Costs and the Uninsured.

SickofLawsuits.org is a nonpartisan, grassroots campaign of Citizens
Against Lawsuit Abuse to educate the public about the negative impacts of
lawsuit abuse and to stop lawsuit abuse from destroying our health care
system.
