UK Law – Linklaters Advises Consortium On £1.2bn Deal

LAWFUEL – Legal Announcements – Linklaters has advised long-standing clients Montagu Private Equity and Global Infrastructure Partners on the £1.2bn public to private of Biffa Plc. The deal was announced on 8 February 2008.
Biffa is a leading integrated waste management business in the UK which operates across the breadth of the waste management value chain. It provides waste collection, treatment and recycling, and disposal services to around 75,000 local and national customers in the industrial, commercial and municipal sectors.

London private equity partner Richard Youle led the Linklaters team on the corporate side while banking partner Adam Freeman led the team on the debt side.

This high-profile transaction reinforces Linklaters’ strong relationship with both Montagu Private Equity and Global Infrastructure Partners. Linklaters has previously advised Montagu Private Equity on a number of strategically important transactions including the acquisition of BCA Holdings and the sale of Open International Limited and acted for Global Infrastructure Partners on the acquisition of London City Airport and Great Yarmouth Ports.

Other Linklaters team members included corporate associates Matthew Bland, Tom Jaggers and Peter Lewis and banking associate Claire Waugh-Young.
