So what happened to last year’s LawFuel Lawyer of the Year David Goddard QC?

It would appear that the leading commercial lawyer has gone to New York to write a book and undertake researcvh as a Senior Global Fellow at the Hauser School of Law.

The Hauser Law School set up its scholarship programmes in 1995 and has provided its programmes to leading academics,  jurists and others globally.

The university says global fellows are “academics, lawyers, government officers, and postdoctoral scholars from around the world who spend up to one year in residence at NYU Law working on personal research projects. The primary goal of this program is to facilitate the production of scholarship and the advancement of research on significant global issues.”

As the university’s site says of NYU:

NYU Law is an intellectual powerhouse, with more than 100 faculty, 300 courses, 16 areas of study, over 30 centers, and over 80 student organizations.

The Law School has long taken a leadership role in introducing changes that have redefined legal education, regularly launching initiatives to assure that our graduates are practice-ready for today’s world. Recent examples include NYU Law Abroad and our Washington, DC-based Legislative and Regulatory Process Clinic.

David Goddard’s study is from September 2018 until May 2019.

His practice focuses on appellate advocacy and has made regular appearances before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in a wide range of commercial and public law cases. along with around 30 cases in the Supreme Court, including appearances for the Crown in major public law and Treaty of Waitangi cases.

The QC  has sold his magnificent modern home, designed by leading Wellington architect Gerald Parsonson and one of the capital’s best, modern homes with spectacular views across the harbour and yet a short walk to Chambers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”101595,101598,101599,101600″ img_size=”medium” title=”The Goddard Home”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
