Winstead PC Ranks High in Inaugural

Dallas, Sept. 17, 2010 – U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers have released the 2010 Best Law Firms rankings, marking the inaugural publication of this annual analysis, part of which will be printed in the October issue of U.S. News & World Report magazine. The rankings are posted online at www.usnews.com/bestlawfirms.

All of the quantitative and qualitative data were combined into an overall U.S.News – Best Lawyers overall score for each firm. Firms with the highest overall scores were included on metropolitan lists that covered as many as 81 practice areas in 171 metropolitan areas and 7 states and national lists covering 39 practice areas. Because firms were often separated by small or insignificant differences in overall score, they have been tiered rather than ranked sequentially.

In general, the first tier includes those firms that scored within a certain percentage of the highest-scoring firm(s); the second tier, those firms that scored within a certain percentage of the next highest scoring firm(s), etc.

Winstead received Tier 1 Metropolitan Rankings for alternative dispute resolution, banking and finance law, construction law, international arbitration, land use and zoning law, real estate law, securitization and structured finance law, and trust and estates law in Dallas.

The firm also received Tier 1 Metropolitan Rankings in Austin and Houston. In Austin, they were recognized Tier 1 in administrative/regulatory law, construction law, mergers and acquisitions law, and real estate law. In Houston, Winstead attorneys were ranked Tier 1 in banking and finance law, bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law, private equity law, and real estate law.

For Tier 2 Metropolitan Rankings, Winstead was recognized in Dallas for bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law and general commercial litigation. Additional Tier 2 Metropolitan Rankings included corporate law, environmental law and insurance law in Austin; construction law in Houston; and public finance law in San Antonio.
