Attorney Uses Facebook to Get Rape, Sodomy, Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed

LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2014– Criminal Defense Attorney David R. Cohn, a partner at Wallin & Klarich, A Law Corporation, used social media as a tool to help get charges of forcible rape, sodomy by force and felony domestic violence dismissed for a client.

As part of the defense, Attorney Cohn uncovered thousands of messages exchanged between the accused and the alleged victim through Facebook that contradicted the alleged victim’s claims and proved any sexual conduct was consensual.

“Our client had a mutual, consensual relationship with the alleged victim that deteriorated after they broke up. The accused said some unkind things about the alleged victim to their mutual friends, causing the alleged victim to lie and manipulate the facts,” Attorney Cohn said. “The words and comments shared in Facebook messages contradicted her claims. It wasn’t easy, but justice prevailed.”

The accused will now be able to resume work on his master’s degree and return to his duties as a military reserve, which he was forced to stop after his arrest.

Attorney Cohn has been a criminal defense attorney at Wallin & Klarich since 1995 and has successfully defended thousands of clients in all types of state and federal criminal cases, including violent crimes.
