23th February 2005, Hong Kong – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – The international law firm of Jones Day is pleased to announce the appointment of Phillip Georgiou as a Senior Associate of the firm’s Hong Kong office. Phillip joins the firm after having worked as an associate with Baker & McKenzie’s Hong Kong construction team since August 2000.

For the past 10 years, Phillip has provided specialist construction, engineering and project related legal advice to a variety of clients throughout the Asia Pacific Region. His clients have included government bodies, statutory corporations, property developers, power companies, port operators, airlines, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants. His recent experience includes acting in two large scale arbitrations arising out of incidences of short piling on high profile Hong Kong projects. Phillip also has a wealth of experience in alternative forms of dispute resolution having been involved in over 20 mediations in Hong Kong, the UK and Australia as well as conciliations and expert determinations. His expertise also includes advising upon, negotiating and drafting project documentation such as main contracts, sub-contracts, consultancy agreements, operation and maintenance agreements and joint venture/consortium arrangements.

Phillip holds a Bachelor of Economics and an LL.B. from Monash University in Australia. He is a frequent guest speaker at seminars for various construction industry organizations. He is admitted to practice law in Victoria and Hong Kong.
